Description

The Shanxi Black is a black coloured granite, with thin grain and very uniform background. It presents a very uniform and deep black coloured background, with some occasional light coloured flakes.

It presents two main grades, which can be differentiated by the presence of some golden coloured flakes. The variations are:
- Shanxi Black Premium: black coloured granite, with thin grain and very uniform background. It presents a deep black uniform colour. This is considered as top grade;

- Shanxi Black Gold: black coloured granite, with thin grain and uniform background. It presents some gold flakes throughout its surface. This is considered a lower grade type of Shanxi Black.

Location

The Shanxi Black granite is mostly extracted around the city of Hunyuan, which is located in the Shanxi province, in the northeastern part of China.

Hunyuan is located on the northeastern part of the country, close to the border with Mongolia. It is located at some 400 kilometers west of the capital city of Beijing.
